  3. Because the group had redone a big portion of the album for the American audience and called it "Purity Of Essence - The American Edition. Believe it or not, it is just as great as the other one only all the songs were done over again and they are fantastic and the audio quality was even better than the original cd.5/5(2).

  5. "Purity Of Essence" was the Rumour's third and final album. Keyboard player Rob Andrews is gone, and the band has shifted their sound towards tight, punchy power-pop songs. They do a great version of Randy Newman's "Have You Seen My Baby", and originals "Tula", "Houston", and "I Don't Want The Night To End" are also impressive.4/5(1).

  6. In , The Rumour recorded their third and last album in two different versions. The UK version has been available for some time on CD, but the US version has never been re-released until now. This is an entirely different recording from the CD that is currently available and has been out of print for 30 years.

Purity of Essence is not their finest hour, but it’s a pretty good forty minutes. Brinsley brings the power of the Schwarz to bear on a trio of winners: “Tula,” “Writing In The Water” and “More Than She Will Say.”.
